Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha was satisfied with Bangkok being named the best value tourist destination in the world.
The premier acknowledged the survey published on the UK- based The Mirror website conducted by Post Office Travel Money which listed Bangkok as the Number One best value destination in 2017 where tourists spend the least amount of money in return for good quality services compared to other countries, especially on the costs of accommodations, travels to tourist attractions, transportation costs, and meal costs. The survey shows the average payment made by tourists for a three-day stay in Bangkok amounts to 316.93 pounds, or around 13,700 baht.
Bangkok is also praised for its lively atmosphere full of activities and diverse tourism attractions, especially beautiful temples and the lavish Grand Palace. The premier said the government had initiated several measures to support tourism policy such as the waiver of visa fee, the extended stay for visitors, the improvement in facilities for tourists, and the eradication of zero-dollar tours.
According to the survey, the 10 popular long-haul city destinations ranging from the least to most expensive for UK visitors are Bangkok, Thailand; Tokyo, Japan; Beijing, China; Dubai, UAE; Cape Town, South Africa; Singapore; Washington DC, USA; Toronto, Canada; New York, USA; and Boston, USA.
